Vintage 7.5 x 9 photo of a reproduction of a Renoir reclining nude. The photograph is an authentication of one of his paintings. Signed in the large lower border in black ink, 'Renoir.' Also written in the lower border by the Mayor of Cagnes (translated): 'For the authentication of the signature of Mr. Pierre Auguste Renoir-artist painter-has signed above. Cagnes, January 13, 1917. The Mayor. Deconeley,' with the official stamp of city hall added also. A few scattered light creases and surface marks, some horizontal curling, small surface mark to opening stroke of Renoir’s signature, and some light surface loss to lower right edge, otherwise fine condition. Renoir’s writing is bold on this image, and the sketch itself is simply fantastic. A rare opportunity to own an authentically signed Renoir at a fraction of what the painting would cost, and an excellent example of a Renoir nude.
