Famed baseball and football announcer (1908-1992) who won the Ford Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978. ALS, one page both sides, 7 x 10.5, personal letterhead, March 12, 1971. Letter to David Britt, the son of announcer Jim Britt. In part: 'Your grandfather…told me you wondered why Jim Britt wasn’t mentioned in The Broadcasters…I was writing a book on the pioneers-then on the development of sports announcing…there was no way to name and write about the bulk of our more modern announcers.
