Vintage sepia matte-finish 8 x 10 portrait, signed and inscribed in black ink “To Ray-Best always, Spencer Tracy, ‘Captain’s Courageous’ 1937.” Consignor notes that the photo originally comes from the Ray Sperry estate. Sperry was Freddie Bartholomew’s stand-in double for Captain’s Courageous. Some silvering to darker areas of image and background, and a couple light spots to top edge, otherwise fine condition. Great association from Tracy’s first Academy Award winning performance. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
