Legendary Italian-born conductor (1867–1957) widely regarded as one of the greatest figures ever to ascend the podium. AQS, in Italian, signed “Arturo Toscanini 16-4-1908 Milano” on an off-white 6 x 3.5 card. Toscanini paraphrases a quotation from Nietzsche. In full, (translated): “Music for everyone (popular music) emits always a bad odor; the odor of tiny people, of vulgar people.” Double matted and framed to an overall size of 12.5 x 18.
