A 250-pound heavyweight nicknamed ‘the Ape’ (1913–1969) who fought Joe Louis twice in the early 1940s when Louis was the heavyweight champion of the world. Vintage heavy stock glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “My Sincerest Best Wishes to Mike. Abe Simon 8/13/56.” In very good condition, with scattered creasing, light surface scratching, and scuffing. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
