Pope (1857–1939), born Ambrogio Damiano Achille Ratti, who ascended the papal throne in 1922 and issued encyclicals condemning communism, fascism, and racism. Colorful hand-calligraphed and illuminated apostolic blessing, trimmed to a size of 11.5 x 7.5, nicely signed at the conclusion “Pius pp. XI.” In fine condition, with some scattered light toning. Accompanied by an unsigned 6.5 x 8 photo of Pius, affixed to its original 10 x 12 mount. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
