Description

“Reaching the summits of great mountains has been very satisfying” The conqueror of Everest humbly downplays his achievements

Uncommon ALS signed “Ed Hillary,” one page, 5.5 x 8.5, January 2, 1998. Letter discussing his career. In full: “I have had the good fortune to have experienced many good moments in my life - and some sad ones too. Reaching the summits of great mountains has been very satisfying and so has reaching the North and South Poles. I have gained much pleasure from building many schools and medical facilities for the mountain people of the Himalayas—the Sherpas. And there have been lots of warm moments with my family. I can’t select one particular moment as being more important than any others.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. A very nice representation of Hillary’s devotion to the people of Nepal, to whom he devoted much of his life after his ascent of Everest. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
