Description

Tunney urges a lady to “Fight the good fight”

Heavyweight boxing champion (1897–1978) from 1926 to 1928 who defeated Jack Dempsey in 1926 and 1927 and retired after winning against Tom Heeney in 1928. Handsome vintage sepia matte-finish 8 x 10 white Blackstone photo of Tunney in a jacket and tie, signed and inscribed in white ink “Remember, Jenette, St. Paul said ‘Fight the good fight’ With best wishes, Gene Tunney.” In fine condition, with some mild rippling to horizontal edges, and a couple trivial border spots. A particularly dapper image enhanced by Tunney’s poignant quote. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
