“Ninety-three years is a great age, and he enjoyed life as long as he lived”

TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, May 8, 1924. As chief justice, Taft writes George W. Smith of Henderson, Texas. In full: “I have yours of May 5th, and I am very sorry to hear that our old friend, Governor Flanagan, is dead. However, ninety-three years is a great age, and he enjoyed life as long as he lived.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (one extra vertical fold) one passing through the end of his name, uniform mild toning, scattered wrinkling, small stain to top edge, and a lightly trimmed top edge.
