Manuscript DS, signed “Victoria R,” one page both sides, 9.5 x 12, March 4, 1844. A pardon issued to Mary Ann Rogers, currently confined to the Jail at Salford, “for being found in a Dwelling House for an unlawful purpose. We in consideration of some circumstances humbly represented to us are graciously pleased to extend our Grace and Mercy unto her and to Grant her Our Free Pardon for her said offense.” Boldly signed across the top of the front by Victoria. Matted and framed, so both sides may be read, with a portrait of Victoria, to an overall size of 23.5 x 18. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one directly under Victoria’s signature, a few small repairs to fold separations on reverse, scattered toning and soiling, and small areas of paper loss at junction of folds. The paper seal is worn, but intact. While documents signed by Victoria are available, pardons are far less common. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
