Early TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, Congress of the United States letterhead, June 6, 1949. Letter to Frederick W. Bliss, president of the Aeronautic Association of Boston. In full: “This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of June 1st, relative to your interest in H. R. 4498, which provides for the authorizing of the expansion of star route air mail service. In reply, I wish to thank you for writing me at this time, and for forwarding me your views in this connection. I want to assure you that this particular bill is at present receiving my close and careful consideration. You may be sure that your views will be borne in mind when such legislation comes before the House for action.” After his signature, Kennedy pens a short postscript which reads, “I thought you might be interested in 2 Bills that I introduced some time ago dealing with important problems in aviation.” In fine condition, with some light soiling and staple hole to top, and a horizontal mailing fold through tops of a few letters of signature. An early Kennedy offering with a boldly penned and uncharacteristically legible postscript. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
