Description

“One must search” Duse continues her frustrating search for work in 1906

Italian actress, contemporary of Bernhardt. ALS in French, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, Hotel Savoy letterhead, June 29, 1906. In full: “The work that you are sending me, is not the one that I am awaiting. I am only therefore keeping hope for another day, and I tell you: thank you, for having answered and with so much enthusiasm and trust in my own trust since each day I tell myself: ‘one must search.’ I hope to arrive – (not dying)at the time that my valiant will will find work at last.” In fine condition, with scattered mild toning and soiling. During this time period, London was a favorite stop of Duse, especially on her way to the United States. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
