Description

George Clinton

American soldier and statesman (1739–1812) who served as governor of New York and vice president in the Jefferson and Madison administrations. Partly-printed DS, signed “Geo. Clinton,” one page, 12.25 x 7.75, May 5, 1789. As governor of New York, Clinton appoints “Joseph Henigan Lieutenant of a company in the Regiment of Militia in the county of Washington, whereof Adiel Sherwood,Esq., is Lieutenant Colonel commandant.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (resulting in small holes to some of the text) and scattered moderate overall soiling. The white paper seal is stained but intact. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
