Description

The Babe hits the links shortly after his 1926 World Series gaffe

Vintage glossy 7.5 x 9.25 photo of Ruth clad in golfing apparel, including knickers, trying to hedge in a putt on a green, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To my friend Jim Boldt from ‘Babe’ Ruth, Nov. 26—1926.” Photo is affixed to a same-sized board. Matted and framed to an overall size of 13 x 15. In very good condition, with trimmed edges, a few scattered light surface marks, Ruth’s first name and one word of inscription several shades light (but legible), and a bit of scattered light contrast to inscription. Just a few weeks earlier, Ruth inexplicably and unsuccessfully attempted a steal of second base to record the final out of the Series' seventh game against the St. Louis Cardinals, the only time that the final out of a World Series was a “caught stealing.” Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
