Pulitzer Prize–winning American journalist (1900–1945), best known for his wartime columns about ordinary GIs, who was killed during the Okinawa Campaign. Japanese 100 yen bank note, 6.5 x 3.75, signed on the portrait side in ink, “Ernie Pyle, Okinawa 4/6/45,” and also signed by 17 other American officers, most with their rank, from colonel down to lieutenant. In fine condition, with some light contrast to a few signatures, and a bisecting vertical fold. A fascinating and poignant memento, signed just 12 days before his death. RRAuction COA.
