Description

Stewart relaxes on the set of the film that launched him to stardom

Vintage glossy 8 x 10 Columbia publicity photo of Stewart reading a copy of Life during a break from filming Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Bob, Jimmy Stewart.” Columbia promotional caption is affixed to reverse. In fine condition, with some scattered light creases and surface marks.

The 1939 Frank Capra classic comedy/drama, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was an epic presentation telling of one man's effect on American politics. The film made Stewart a major movie star and in 1989 was added to the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
