ANS, in French, signed “Renoir,” one page, 4 x 5, no date. Brief note to a friend reads, “Slept since Sunday. I am much better.” Letter is removably tipped into a hardcover later printing of Renoir, My Father, signed and inscribed on the half-title page, “For Col. Louis L. Schlosser, Jr., with my greetings, Dec. 3, 1962, Jean Renoir. Letter is in fine condition, with a few stray ink marks and a bisecting horizontal fold. Book has an owner’s bookplate affixed to reverse of opening page, mounting remnants and caption to letter’s page, and light surface wear to covers of book. A fantastic father and son grouping.
