ALS signed “A. Conan Doyle,” one page, 4.5 x 7, Mena House Hotel letterhead, February 10, 1896. Letter to noted Canadian science writer and novelist Grant Allen. In full: “Do you chance to know anyone along the ridge who wants to let his house for the summer—say from May 15th to Sept 15th? If you did chance to hear of anyone it would be very kind of you to let us know.” Allen would die two years after receiving this letter, unfortunately before finishing his novel Hilda Wade, the final episode of which he had dedicated to his neighbor and doctor, Arthur Conan Doyle. It was published under the appropriate title, The episode of the Dead Man Who Spoke in the Strand Magazine in 1900. In fine condition. Great association between two important authors. RRAuction COA.
