Description

Flagg adds a self-portrait in his letter to fellow author Willis Birchman

ALS signed “Jim Flagg,” one page, 8.5 x 11, 1937. Letter to author Willis Birchman sending thanks for his sending a copy of his book, Facts and Faces, in which Flagg wrote the introduction. In full: “Thanks for your book. It was beautifully gotten up & the text was delightful—I showed my dad (in his 3rd childhood!) one page when I came to it because he was mentioned—insultingly to me— & wouldn’t let him see the rest till I’d read it all— hope you’ll have to print other editions.” At the top of the page, Flagg has added a magnificent ink and watercolor self-portrait of himself sitting on a hassock thumbing through a copy of the book, and adding, “Merry Xmas 1937.” In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, and some mild rippling.
