Superlative vintage matte-finish 4.75 x 7 photo of Babe Ruth in his Yankees road uniform, Governor Lawrence M. Judd of Hawaii, and “Mr. Hunter, Mgr.” (all three names noted in pencil on the reverse) at Honolulu Stadium with a stand full of fans visible in the background, signed in ink with a bold, perfect “Babe Ruth,” and also signed by Judd. The photo credit, “Fritz Kraft, Hololulu 1933,” is penned in a neat, tiny hand below the image. Ruth was in Hawaii through the efforts of Hawaii’s first sports promoter, J. Ashman Beaven, to entertain fans in what was then a U.S. Territory. During 1933–34, in addition to Ruth, Beaven also attracted the likes of Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and Lefty Gomez to play in a number of exhibition games. The very subtlest trace of mild soiling at extreme edges, and small repaired area of skinning to right edge (not affecting overall appearance and mentioned only for strictest accuracy), otherwise very fine, bright, crisp condition. The signature rates a perfect 10. Very interesting and very likely unique among Ruth items today, a centerpiece of any baseball memorabilia collection!
