Highly esteemed Spanish poet, playwright, and artist (1898–1936) best known for such collections as Romancero gitano and Poeta en Nueva York. He was killed at the age of 38 by Nationalist partisans during the Spanish Civil War. Scarce vintage ink signature, “Federico García Lorca, Buenos Aires,” on an off-white 4.25 x 7 album page, Lorca adding a sentiment in Spanish, whimsically exaggerating the “B” and “A,” and drawing the crossbar of the “A” as a large arrow. Matted with a photo to an overall size of 14.5 x 13.5. In very good condition, with scattered light toning and foxing, and first word of sentiment retraced (evidently later) in different ink. R&R COA.
