Description

“I do not know what actors will be cast in the film of ‘Gone with the Wind.’ I have no connection with the picture and am as much in the dark as anyone else.”

American author (1900–1949) whose single novel, Gone with the Wind, became one of the best-sellers of all time and spawned one of the most fabled movies in Hollywood history. She died after being struck by a speeding car at the age of forty-eight. Excellent TLS signed “Margaret Mitchell Marsh,” one page, 7 x 11, personal letterhead, January 22, 1937. Mitchell writes to Miss Keim, a fan. In full: “Thank you so much for your letter about ‘Gone with the Wind.’ Of course I was so very pleased when you wrote me that the characters seemed real to you and that you suffered with them. An author can get no higher compliment than this and I appreciate it. No, I do not know what actors will be cast in the film of ‘Gone with the Wind.’ I have no connection with the picture and am as much in the dark as anyone else.” Paper thin in one area on left edge due to prior mounting on reverse (very faintly showing through in margins), otherwise very fine, clean condition. An attractive letter of exceptional Gone with the Wind interest! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
