Description

Soliciting a contributor for his legendary “full two-barreled” literary magazine

ALS, one page, 8 x 10, The Dial letterhead, August 7, 1920. Pound writes to Lady [Mrs. Shane] Leslie. In full: “I hope this programme will interest you—also that Mr. Shane Leslie will be sufficiently interested to write for us. The Dial is a full two-barreled magazine with a regular & assured pay rate, & I think we can offer him as good a public as any. In any case, I ask your precious mediation.” After signing, Pound adds a postscript along the left edge, beside the list of the magazine’s contributors: “This new list gets under weigh [sic] in about Sept. number.” In very good condition, with a touch of subtle soiling, minor brush to last name, and scattered spots of skinning to reverse faintly showing through (though not breaking surface of sheet). R&R COA.
