Description

Painter on the spot? “You can count on me to do my best to give you something for the Revue”

Highly regarded French painter (1830–1903), one of the leading figures of the impressionist movement, best known for his distinctive pointillist style. Boldly penned ALS in French, signed “C. Pissarro,” one page, 5 x 8, February 3, 1897. Letter to a friend, who appears to have asked for a work for an exhibit. In full, “You can count on me to do my best to give you something for the Revue. Just wait a couple of days - tomorrow I’m going to Eragny, but I’ll be back on the 10th of this month. I’ll get in touch with you around then in Paris. Don’t bother writing me in Eragny. There you go, my friend. Please excuse my delay in answering you, but I got your letter only yesterday.” Matted and framed with a translation and a small image of one of Pissarro’s works, to an overall size of 18.5 x 13. In fine condition, with light interecting mailing folds and a few trivial creases. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
