Died in 1967 in the Apollo spacecraft fire. He piloted the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft, the second and final suborbital Mercury test flight, on July 21, 1961. Check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Grissom, “Virgil I. Grissom,” payable to National Bank of Fort Sam Houston for $1396.87, February 5, 1958. In fine condition, with cancellation holes to upper portion, a couple rusty paperclip remnants along top edge and a single corner from a bank stamp affecting a few letters of signature.
