Blood from turnips? Clara Barton signs a Red Cross letter on crop cultivation

Teacher and humanitarian (1821–1912) best known for organizing the relief organization the American Red Cross. Printed form letter, signed in ink, “Clara Barton,” two pages, 8.25 x 2.75, American National Red Cross letterhead, February 26, 1895. A communication outlining tips for planting season “in the interest of our faithful Sea Island friends,” including lists of vegetable plants, and information on cultivation, fertilizer, and the like. In very good condition, with usual folds (associated partial separations), toning, a few chips, and scattered light stains and spots. R&R COA. Featured collection item.
