TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, May 2, 1921. Harding writes to Herbert Bayard Swope, the powerful Executive Editor of Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World. In full: “Your telegram of April 21st, relative to the invitation to attend the luncheon of the Academy of Political Science was duly received. I am sorry to have been delayed in making reply. I have written Dr. Lindsay today that I will be glad to attend the luncheon on May 23rd, and avail myself of the opportunity of greeting your membership.” In fine condition, with usual mailing fold and some minor scattered soiling.
