Description

British Naval officer and political leader who served as Colonial governor of New York from 1743 to 1753. DS, signed “Ge Clinton,” one page, 8.25 x 13, February 20, 1747. Clinton instructs His Majesty’s Paymaster General to “pay unto Edward Holland, Esq. or order One Thousand Five Hundred pound sterling…being for account of the pay of the new Levies raised on the expedition against Canada.” In fine condition, with light show through from endorsement on reverse, three horizontal folds and some slight edge wear.
