Two volume set from Mark Twain’s library, each bearing the well-known bookplate from the sale and signed by Clemens in his wife’s name

Two volume set of books from Mark Twain’s library, sold by his daughter in 1951, each containing the well-known bookplate from the sale. Books are: Heroines of Fiction by W. D. Howells, Volumes I and II, Harper & Brothers, New York and London: first edition, 238/273 pages, 5.5 x 8.5 green cloth hardcovers with gilt titles. Each volume bears the bookplate, “From the Library of Samuel L. Clemens, sold by his daughter Clara Clemens, Los Angeles, April 10-14, 1951,” on the inside front cover and signed “Olivia L. Clemens, Riverdale, Oct. 1901,” in the hand of Samuel Clemens. In fine condition, with scattered light wear to covers and a mild shade of toning to pages. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
