ALS signed “Satchmo,” four pages, 8.5 x 11, June 14, 1970. Letter written while recuperating from an illness. The pages are written on the back of photocopies of his advertisement for “Lose Weight The Satchmo Way.” In part, “I have been back in the hospital very sick and I was unable to write a letter to you. I was really sick this time. Everybody thought I would die. But the Lord Jesus - my doctor - and my wife Lucille were right there with me at all times - So I came through alright. Now at home resting…I have just received the trombone that belonged to Mr. Franz Schuritz which you sent to me some time ago and I had the horn cleaned up and a bran [sic] new trombone case made for it - and the case and the trombone looked real pretty. The musical instrument place that did the swell job…Lucille and I went mad over the horn, fell in love with it. I shall have that horn for a present from Mr. Schuritz the rest of my life. I won’t let anyone touch it (put their hands on it).” In fine condition, with expected mailing folds and some light wrinkling to each page. R&R COA.
