Military governor of Belgium during the German occupation in World War II. Though he was tried and convicted for war crimes, he was later acquitted when it became clear that he had saved scores of Jews and Belgians from deportation and execution. Scarce vintage matte-finish 5 x 7 photo, signed and inscribed, “To my friend M. H. Keith-Thompson, Alexander von Falkenhausen, Brussels, 1940/44.” In fine condition, with just a touch of edge wear and adhesive remnants to verso. R&R COA.
