Description

An aging Bette Davis confides “...I know what it must be like to be alone. That is how I live here. No matter how one gets used to it -- no one ever likes it.”

ALS signed “Bette,” two pages, 6.25 x 9, “Twin Bridges” Westport, Conn. letterhead, no date. In part: “When will you come to visit me? I would so love it! My phone number is…Please call me and know how much I would love to spend some time with you here. I know what it must be like to be alone. That is how I live here. No matter how one gets used to it -- no one ever likes it. Please call me or write and please visit. I would adore it.” In fine condition, with scattered faint creasing a small area of trivial soiling, unobtrusive pencil notations in another hand on the first page which seem to be estimating the date of the letter (August of 1968 is written). R&R COA.
