Description

Pioneering feminist (1815-1902) who, at the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848, presented her 'Declaration of Sentiments,' outlining her view of the rights and aims of American women and contributing in no small part to the adoption of women's suffrage more than half a century later. Fountain pen signature, "Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Born-November 12th 1815, Johnstown, Fulton Co., New York,” on an off-white 8.75 x 5.5 sheet. In very good to fine condition, with splitting to the ends of the intersecting folds. Accompanied by a carte-de-visite portrait of Stanton annotated in another hand.
