ALS signed “James Longstreet, Capt. 8th Inf. Bt. Maj., Com. Comp.,” one page, 7.75 x 10, July 5, 1856. Letter written from Fort Bliss, Texas, to Col. H. K. Craig, Chief of Ordnance, in full: "Enclosed I have the honor to transmit the Quarterly return of Ordnance Stores pertaining to Company J. for the 2nd Quarter of 1856." In fine condition, with light show-through from docketing notations on the reverse.
