On George W.'s candidacy for president: "Wouldn't it be amazing if he made it all the way!"

TLS, one page, 6.25 x 8.5, personal letterhead, July 30, 1999. Letter to his biographer Herbert Parmet, in part: "Yes, indeed, we are the proudest parents in America. As I write this belated reply, George W. and his wife Laura are here getting some much needed rest. Wouldn't it be amazing if he made it all the way! Warm regards, and I hope our paths cross sometime in the not too distant future." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Then governor of Texas, George W. Bush announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination on June 12, 1999. After winning the primaries, he received the nomination at the Republican National Convention on August 3, 2000, and went on to win a controversial election against Al Gore in November.
