Physician (1900–1944) who served as Reich Health Leader in Nazi Germany, known for his involvement in the planning and execution of Aktion T4 that murdered hundreds of thousands of adults and children with severe mental and physical handicaps; he was subsequently imprisoned and held as a witness for the Nuremberg trials, and hanged himself in his Nuremberg cell. ALS in German, one page on a 5.5 x 3.25 "Prisoner of War Post Card," August 19, 1945. Conti's final letter to his young daughter, Irmgard, sent from his Nuremberg prison cell. In full (translated): "All best wishes to you. Remain dear and good. Be very brave as you have already shown your parents. Frau Kelle and Frau Schiller are going to be as dear to you as I am. Think always with love of your Dad." In very good to fine condition, with scattered staining. Accompanied by a vintage glossy 7.25 x 4.25 mug shot photo of Conti by the U.S. Army Signal Corps, taken August 7, 1945, identification number , with an "Office of Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, Nürnberg, Germany" press stamp on the reverse.
