Description

Walt Disney Productions internal "Censorship Report" distributed to "Gerda Vandermeers," 13 pages, 8.5 x 14, April 18, 1944. The introductory page begins: "The following report has been prepared for your reference, and contains information of a 'confidential' nature, received from the Hays Office. Although it does not apply, particularly, to our work, it is felt it will be of value to our story personnel in knowing what is not permitted in pictures. You will find attached: List #1 Copy of the Production Code which governs the censorship of all pictures. List #2 Condensed list of all words and phrases which must be omitted. Also, resume of past objectionable situations pertaining to Disney pictures for future reference. List #3 Important deletions and rejections, all studios, as reported by the various State and County Censor Boards from 1-27-43 to 4-1-44." In very good to fine condition, with creasing, small tears, and some fraying to edges.

From the collection of Gerda Robison, who worked as a story researcher and stenographer for Disney in the 1940s and 50s. She authored the book Dark Lady, and later served as Cecil Beaton's assistant on My Fair Lady.
