Interesting lot of teleprinter material—a "Teleprinter Activation Procedure" cue card and ## teleprinted messages—attested as flown on the Space Shuttle Challenger during STS-51-B. Includes:
- a single-sided 4.5 x 4.25 "Teleprinter Activation Procedure" cue card, listing procedures for setup of the on-board teleprinter, a modified military teletype machine located in the Orbiter's middeck crew compartment locker, which served as the prime method of transmitting written data to a crew on orbit. It provided the capability to receive and reproduce text-only data, such as procedures, weather reports, and crew activity plan updates or changes transmitted from the Mission Control Center.
- ten pages of in-flight teleprinted messages received on orbit, ranging in size from 6 x 3.5 (trimmed) to 8.5 x 25, outlining a variety of modifications to procedures, summarizing workarounds for Spacelab and Orbiter equipment failures, and defining a process for improving WCS urinal air flow.
In overall very good to fine condition, with creasing to a few of the teleprinted messages, and three of the pages trimmed and taped together.
