- a set of stainless steel utensils—knife, fork, and spoon—engraved on the handles, "SPT-SMEAT," housed together in a plastic pouch, with a small Velcro swatch affixed to the reverse.
- three accordion-style lemonade pouches—one still full—two of which retain their "Lemonade / SPT" labels.
- two unopened cans of "Black Coffee," marked as "P/N 24-0222-62, S/N CE."
- an unopened can of "Vanilla Wafer (Commercial Cookie)," marked as "P/N 24-0222-28-1, S/N 0007-4."
- an unopened can of "Applesauce," identified as "S/N DDS 032."
- an unopened can of "Scrambled Eggs," identified as "S/N BAF 0797."
In overall very good to fine condition.
Food systems were a critical part of preparing crews for the unprecedented duration of Skylab flights, requiring meals and utensils that were nutritious, compact, easy to handle, and compatible with the demands of weightlessness. The SMEAT-marked utensils, beverage pouches, and preserved foods represented here reflect the extensive testing behind Skylab’s in-orbit dining system, which helped establish practical standards for long-duration spaceflight and informed later food programs developed for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station.
