Vintage glossy 9 x 7.5 photo of a local Burbank police officer playfully returning a Walt Disney Studios parking pass to the company’s owner and founder, who is pictured seated and smiling in the driver’s seat of his Packard convertible, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Mr. Keener, Happy Birthday, Walt Disney, Aug. 13-40.” Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 15.75 x 14. In fine condition, with irregular ink adhesion to areas of the signature and a few small creases, one of which touches Disney's cheek.
The recipient, A. G. Keener, served as treasurer and paymaster of Walt Disney Studios from 1934 through the early 1950s, during the studio’s formative golden age. He was one of the comparatively few men permitted to enter the predominantly female Ink & Paint Department, where he personally delivered paychecks and also made regular trips to the studio’s Seward Street annex to pay the artists working there.
