Description

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 16.5 x 10.5, June 1, 1853. President Franklin Pierce appoints Edwin Brownell as "Surveyor and Inspector of the Revenue for the Port of Troy, in the State of New York." Signed prominently at the conclusion by Pierce and countersigned by James Guthrie as Secretary of the Treasury. Double-matted and framed with an engraved portrait to an overall size of 29.75 x 16.75. In fine condition, with folds as issued.
