Description

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “M. Van Buren,” one page, 13.5 x 17, July 27, 1840. President Van Buren appoints James L. Henderson, "by and with the advice and consent of the Senate," as "a Lieutenant in the Navy." Crisply signed at the conclusion in ink by President Martin Van Buren, and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy James K. Paulding. The white seal affixed at the bottom remains fully intact. In fine condition, with intersecting folds.
