Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 19.25, June 18, 1886. President Cleveland appoints Joseph B. Brown as "Surgeon with the rank of Colonel in the service of the United States." Crisply signed at the conclusion in ink by President Grover Cleveland, and countersigned by Secretary of War William C. Endicott. The navy blue seal affixed at the lower left remains intact. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and light staining to the top and bottom margins.
