Description

"For Grandpa, with love from the two grandchildren who love you most"

Autograph note by Jacqueline Kennedy, signed by her children, "Caroline" and "John," one page on a 4.5 x 3.5 White House stationery card, no date but circa 1963. Handwritten note by Jacqueline Kennedy, in full: "For Grandpa, with love from the two grandchildren who love you most." Signed below by her two young children, Caroline Kennedy and John F. Kennedy, Jr. Includes its original White House stationery envelope, addressed in Jackie's hand to "Hon. Joseph P. Kennedy." In very fine condition.

A tender glimpse of family life within the Kennedy White House, the note reflects Joseph P. Kennedy’s close relationship with Caroline and John Jr., whose youthful presence became an enduring part of the administration’s public image. Written in the aftermath of Joseph P. Kennedy’s debilitating December 1961 stroke, its affectionate message reflects the comfort and companionship his grandchildren provided during his prolonged recovery.

From the estate of Ann Gargan King.
