Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1731–1811). ADS, signed “Wm. Williams,” one page, 6.5 x 7.75, September 12, 1791. Handwritten power of attorney document by Williams, who appoints “Davis Trumbull, Esquire” as “my true and lawful attorney” with authority to assign and transfer his interest in “one certain certificate for the sum of $86.44, bearing interest at 6%.” Signed at the conclusion by William Williams, who certifies that Bartlett personally appeared before him and acknowledged the instrument as his act and deed. Countersigned by two witnesses, and impressed with an intact red wax seal. In fine condition, with light staining.
