Description

ALS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 4 x 6.5, Executive Mansion letterhead, February 19, 1880. Handwritten letter to Mrs. Linus Austin, in full: "Do come soon. But any time better than not at all. Nobody here after this week unless we persuade Lucy Cook to remain longer. She is a sweet cousin of my Lucy, and will not be in your way a bit if you come before she leaves." Suede-matted and framed with the original Executive Mansion mailing envelope (addressed in Hayes's own hand), along with a portrait and plaque, to an overall size of 16 x 17.5. In fine condition.
