ADS, signed “Will'm Henry Harrison,” one page both sides, 7.5 x 12.75, April 1, 1812. Handwritten memorandum of agreement for the use of a mill, in full: "Memorandum of an agreement entered into on the 1st day of April 1812 by & between Wm. H. Harrison of Knox County & Benjamin Bogard of Harrison County of the Indiana Territory—The said Harrison rents to the said Bogard from the Day of the Date hereof until the 31st of December next. For the Grist Mill the said Bogard is to pay the sd Harrison one hundred buckets of corn & if required thirty three & a third buckets are to be paid on the 30th of June. The same quantity on the 30th of September & the like quantity on the expiration of the lease—the rest is to be altogether paid in old Corn or Corn of the last years groth—For the rent of the Saw Mill the said Bogard is to give the said Harrison one third of every stock he shall cut dividing the plank as nearly as possible to cut a sufficient of plank for the new dam which is contemplated to be built by the said Harrison—That for the piling to be of White Oak two inches thick the said Bogard is to have the use of the cabins now occupied by Gr. Pfrimmer the garden & also the pasture ground—but nothing unless it be bucking cabins are to be put into the pasture until after the blue grass seed is ripe—The said Bogard is also to have the use of the Log Waggon & the four oxen which are now at the Mills & he is to return them in good order—unavoidable accidents to the Oxen excepted but the sd. Harrison is to have the sd. Waggon & team to draw the materials to the dame which he contemplates to erect—The said Bogard is to use his utmost endeavour to keep the dam in repair & He is to return the Grist & Saw Mills & the bolt in as good order as they are at this time—the timber for sawing is to be taken from sd. Bogards own land—excepting the Stocks which are now cut upon the land of the sd. Harrison & such trees as have heretofore been thrown down by winds—and the sd. Harrison may also use the oxen & Waggon in hauling the materials for his house and rails for the farm Whenever they are not engaged in hauling Stocks for the Mill."
