Early Columbia Record Productions test pressing of the Eagles’ fifth studio album, Hotel California, signed on the plain off-white album sleeve in blue felt tip by Don Henley, Don Felder, and Randy Meisner, in purple felt tip by Glenn Frey, and in black felt tip by Joe Walsh. The sleeve bears an inscription by an unknown hand, “Mark, Thanks,” and is annotated in the upper left, “7E-1084 A/B,” the matrix number for both sides of Hotel California. The record is included, which features the plain “Columbia Record Productions, Santa Maria, Test Pressing’ label to both sides, with the runouts bearing the following matrix numbers: “7E 1084 A-2 RE CSM, ‘IS IT 6 O'CLOCK YET?,’ A1 STERLING LH 1S” and “7E 1084 B-4 RE CSM, ‘V.O.L. IS FIVE PIECE LIVE,’ A STERLING LH 1S.” In fine condition, with light scuffing and edgewear to the sleeve. Accompanied by full letters of authenticity from PSA/DNA and JSA.
The 'secret messages' engraved in the run-out groove were included on the original release, with the latter referencing the album's sixth track, 'Victim of Love,' which was recorded in a live studio session with no overdubbing. The iconic album topped the charts for a total of eight weeks and won Grammy Awards for the singles 'Hotel California' (Record of the Year) and 'New Kid in Town' (Best Arrangement for Voices). A scarce group-signed test pressing of a true classic.
