Description

DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, October 23, 1974. An official letter from Robert Redford to Peace River Films Inc., related to the short documentary film Following the Tundra Wolf, in full: “This will confirm that, pursuant to its employment agreement with me, Wildwood Enterprises, Inc. has full authority to enter into the agreement with you of even date herewith and to perform fully thereunder.” Signed at the conclusion in red felt tip by Redford. The document bears a stapled note from Herb Cheyette, dated February 11, 1975. In fine condition. Accompanied by a three-page document contract between Wildwood Enterprises and Peace River Films, with the former agreeing to furnish the services of Robert Redford as the off-camera narrator of a film entitled "Following the Tundra Wolf," intended for use as part of a program in the ‘American Sportsman’ television series.

Narrated by Robert Redford, the short nature documentary Following the Tundra Wolf aired on ABC in 1975. Filmed in the Canadian Northwest Territories along the Arctic Circle, this early wildlife documentary presents a rare, fully wild portrait of the tundra wolf and its primary prey, the barren-ground caribou. Employing then-innovative field cinematography to capture previously unseen behavior, the film follows the wolf as both ecological predator and enduring figure in human imagination.
