Description

Three items signed by Pete Seeger, including an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet with typed lyrics for the song 'Pete's Song', which features a handwritten letter dated December 2, 2002: “David - sorry, I don't have time to handwrite the lyrics of 'Hammer' and 'Flowers.’ This song I have never sung - I used a great old melody, but I'm dissatisfied with the words. The first verse is not bad - paraphrasing the original lines in the Bible. (Book of Proverbs). I forget chapter & verse, Don't use it.” Seeger adds some annotations to the lyrics on the left side. Included are two 8.5 x 11 typed lyric sheets for the classic Seeger songs, ‘Where Have All the Flowers Gone’ and ‘If I Had a Hammer,’ both of which are signed by Seeger, who adds a small sketch of a banjo to both. In overall fine condition.

Originates from the estate of Howie Klein (1948–2025), the former president of Reprise Records from 1989 to 2001, who oversaw the career development of recording artists such as Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, Joni Mitchell, the Ramones, the Pretenders, Neil Young, Alanis Morissette, Barenaked Ladies, Eric Clapton, Green Day, Enya, Fleetwood Mac, the Smiths, Ice-T, and dozens of other major acts.
